The Indian government now allows citizens to link their Aadhaar cards with their caste certificates, primarily aimed at authenticating scheduled caste/tribe students. This linkage ensures their access to various government-provided benefits, including free admission to educational institutions and other academic facilities.
The UIDAI has streamlined the process for students to link their Aadhaar cards to their caste certificates. School principals are now entrusted with collecting these certificates and respective forms from students and ensuring submission to the designated officials. Government directives have urged state administrations to promptly link caste and domicile certificates to students’ Aadhaar cards within 60 days of issuance.
Students linking their Aadhaar cards to caste certificates can access a range of benefits easily:
Government Scholarships:
Eligible students from ST, SC, or OBC categories, with family incomes below Rs. 1 lakh per annum, can receive scholarships for higher education.
Institute Reservations:
Students from ST, SC, or OBC backgrounds linked to their Aadhaar cards can avail a 49% reservation in premier educational institutions like IITs, IIMs, and others.
Government Job Reservations:
Aspirants from SC, ST, or OBC backgrounds may enjoy reduced application fees for various government job applications, alongside reserved seats in different government job sectors.
