How to Lock and Unlock Aadhaar Via SMS?

Locking Aadhaar requires pre-generating VID
Two SMSs need to be sent to lock Aadhaar
First SMS to receive OTP from registered mobile number
Second SMS to lock Aadhaar with last four digits of Aadhaar number and 6-digit OTP
Format for SMSs: GETOTP (space) last four digits of Aadhaar number and LOCKUID (space) last four digits of Aadhaar number space 6-digit OTP
To unlock your Aadhaar card, you need to have a VID.
The process involves sending 2 SMSs from your registered mobile number.
The first SMS should be sent to 1947 in the format GETOTP (space) last six digits of your VID number.
After receiving the OTP, you need to send another SMS in the format UNLOCKUID (space) last six digits of your VID number space the 6-digit OTP sent to you.
Once the process is complete, you will receive a confirmation.

What Is the Process to Avail of Aadhaar Services on SMS?

Generate a Virtual ID by sending an SMS to 1947 in the format GVID (space) last four digits of your Aadhaar number.
Retrieve your Virtual ID by sending an SMS in the format RVID (space) last four digits of your Aadhaar number.
Obtain an OTP by sending an SMS in the format GETOTP (space) last four digits of your Aadhaar number if you are using an Aadhaar Number.
Obtain an OTP by sending an SMS in the format GETOTP (space) last six digits of your VID number if you are using a Virtual ID.

Generate a virtual ID by sending an SMS to 1947 from your registered mobile number.
Use the format GVIDLast four digits of your Aadhaar number in the SMS.
Receive an SMS from UIDAI containing your 16-digit virtual ID after sending the SMS.

For retrieving virtual ID

Send an SMS in the format RVID Last four digits of your Aadhaar number from your registered mobile number to 1947 to retrieve your lost virtual ID.
Retrieve your lost virtual ID by sending an SMS with the format RVID Last four digits of your Aadhaar number from your registered mobile number to 1947.
