It is mandatory to link Aadhaar with PAN card because your PAN will become inoperative if your Aadhaar is not linked with PAN. Also, if you have to carry out a banking transaction above Rs. 50,000, you have to get your PAN card and Aadhar card linked.
Linking your PAN card with Aadhaar is crucial for PAN cardholders due to the following reasons:
Deactivation of PAN Cards:
All PAN cards that haven’t been linked with Aadhaar are deactivated after 30th June 2023.
Preventing Multiple PAN Issuance:
Linking PAN with Aadhaar helps address the issue of multiple PAN cards being issued to the same individual or entity.
Tax Summary:
Users can obtain a summarized detail of the taxes levied on them for future reference.
Visit the e-Filing Income Tax Department Page:
Go to https://www1.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-FilingGS/Services/AadhaarPreloginStatus.html
Select “Link Aadhaar Status” under “Quick Links”:
Find and click on the “Link Aadhaar Status” option under the “Quick Links” section.
Enter PAN and Aadhaar Number:
Input your PAN and Aadhaar numbers in the designated fields.
Click ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’:
After entering the details, click on the ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’ button.
Check Aadhaar-PAN Link Status:
The status of your Aadhaar-PAN link will be displayed on the screen.
Visit NSDL (Protean) Website:
Go to the NSDL (Protean) website for PAN services.
Apply for Correction of PAN Details:
Use the NSDL link to apply for the correction of your name on your PAN card.
Submit Signed Digital Documents:
Follow the instructions to submit signed digital documents for the correction process.
Confirmation by NSDL:
Once your details are corrected and confirmed by NSDL through email communication, proceed to the next step.
Link Your PAN with Aadhaar:
After correcting PAN details, proceed to link your PAN with Aadhaar for successful linking.
