Losing your PAN card, a crucial tax and identification document, can be inconvenient, but there are alternative measures and online facilities to address the situation:
Use Other Alternative IDs:
While PAN card is essential, consider using other alternative ID proofs, especially when traveling or booking tickets.
Present any government-issued ID proof available to you in the absence of the PAN card.
Report Loss Online:
Take advantage of the online facilities provided by the government to quickly report the loss of your PAN card without unnecessary hassle.
Online Application for Lost PAN Card:
If your PAN card is lost, opt for the online application process for a quick and hassle-free experience.
Ensure all the information provided in the online form is accurate and free of errors to avoid delays in PAN number issuance.
Submit Form Accurately:
When applying for a duplicate PAN card online, ensure a correct and clean submission of the form.
Avoid overlaps and spelling errors in the details to expedite the process of obtaining a new PAN card.
Visit the TIN/NSDL Website:
Log into the website of TIN/NSDL, now known as Protean.
Choose Online Application for PAN:
Select the tab for the online PAN application.
Select “Reprint PAN Card”:
Choose the “Reprint PAN Card” option specifically designed for lost, stolen, or misplaced PAN cards.
Navigate to PAN Data Correction Link:
Click on the link “Online Application for changes/correction in PAN data.”
Select PAN Type:
Choose the type of PAN required (individual, company, HUF, firm, etc.).
Fill the Online Application Form:
Provide details such as existing PAN, applicant’s name, communication address, contact number, email, etc., in the online form.
Attach Necessary Documents:
Attach self-attested copies of required documents, including ID proof and photographs.
Submit Online or by Post:
Submit the application form online or send it by post to NSDL along with the necessary documents.
Pay Application Fee:
Pay the application fee of Rs. 50 for resident individuals or Rs. 959 for non-resident individuals using options like debit/credit card, net banking, or demand draft.
Receive Acknowledgement Number:
Upon successful payment, receive an acknowledgement number for future correspondence.
Receive Duplicate PAN Card:
Expect to receive a duplicate PAN card with the same PAN number by post at the provided correspondence address in approximately 2 weeks.
Obtain Application Form:
Obtain the “Request for New PAN Changes or Correction in PAN Data” Form from TIN-Facilitation Centres, IT PAN Service Centres, PAN Centres, or stationery vendors.
Download the Form:
Download the form from official websites such as Income Tax Department (www.incometaxindia.gov.in), UTIITSL (www.utiitsl.com), or NSDL (www.tin-nsdl.com).
Fill the Form:
Fill the PAN application form in BLOCK LETTERS using BLACK INK.
Photographs:
Affix two recent colored photographs on top of the form for individual applicants.
Signature or Thumb Impression:
Provide a signature or left-hand thumb impression across the photo on the left-hand side of the form.
Thumb Impression Attestation:
If using a thumb impression, get it attested by a Magistrate, public notary, or gazetted government officer under official seal and stamp.
Alternative Addresses:
If updating alternative addresses, tick the checkbox in the left-hand margin and provide details on an additional page in the prescribed format.
