In the past, there have been inconsistencies in the cost of PAN processing, but the government has now established a uniform fee for all applications with a communication address within the country. In the event that an individual misplaces or harms their PAN card, or requires modifications or corrections to be made, it is necessary to pay a fee of Rs.110. This fee comprises a processing fee of Rs.93 along with an additional 18% Goods & Service Tax. It is important to note that this fee is only applicable if the communication address is located within India. Different rates are applicable for individuals whose communication address is overseas.
Fees for New/Reprinted Pan Card for Individuals Residing Abroad
A booming Indian economy has attracted a number of foreign players who are keen on carrying out business in the country. A PAN is mandatory for such entities, be it an organisation or an individual and they are required to go through the same process as a resident of India.
The government charges a fee of Rs 1011.00 [ (Application fee + Dispatch Charges Rs. 857) + 18.00% Goods & Service tax] for new PAN application and Rs 1020.00 [ (Application fee Rs.93.00 + Dispatch Charges Rs. 771.00) + 18.00% Goods & Service tax] for reprint/change of PAN card. to process and dispatch the PAN to entities with a communication address outside India.
1. The Government of India has laid out specific guidelines for making payments on behalf of a PAN applicant, depending on the type of applicant.
2. For individual applicants, the applicant themselves or their immediate family members are permitted to make the payment using Credit/Debit card or Net Banking.
3. In the case of Hindu Undivided Families, only the Karta of the HUF is authorized to make payments.
4. For companies and firms, any Director or Partner can make the payment on their behalf.
5. However, for trusts, associations, and local authorities, payment can only be made by an authorized signatory as per the rules of the Income Tax Act. It is important to follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth and hassle-free application process.
There are chances for the PAN application of an individual to be rejected, either on grounds of incorrect/incomplete information or failure to adhere to the instructions. In such cases, applicants should remember that there is no provision for a fee refund and that they can reapply for the PAN by correcting the wrong information, using the same payment details.
