To ensure the retrieval of a lost or forgotten Aadhaar number, individuals frequently misplace or overlook their Aadhaar or Unique Identification Number (UID) or Enrolment Identification Number (EID) required for accessing Aadhaar related services. In order to mitigate this potential risk, the UIDAI offers a service specifically designed to retrieve lost or forgotten UID/EID. To facilitate this process, residents have the option to access the service online, utilize the m-Aadhaar application, or visit the nearest Permanent Enrolment Centre. Below, we will explore the different methods available for retrieving a lost or forgotten Aadhaar number.
To retrieve a lost or forgotten Aadhaar number, an Aadhaar cardholder can follow these simple steps on the UIDAI official website:
1. Go to uidai.gov.in and click on ‘Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID/UID’ under the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab.
2. Choose whether to retrieve the EID or Aadhaar number.
3. Provide your Full Name, Mobile No./Email Address, and Captcha Verification.
4. Click on ‘Send OTP’ to receive a One-Time Password on your registered mobile number.
5. Enter the OTP received and verify your details. Your Aadhaar Number/Enrolment ID will be sent to your registered mobile number/email ID.
To recover lost UID/EID using the mAadhaar app, please follow these steps:
1. Log in to the mAadhaar app and select ‘Retrieve EID/UID’.
2. Choose whether you want to retrieve your Aadhaar number (UID) or Enrolment Number (EID).
3. Provide your full name, mobile number/email ID, the 4-digit captcha code, and click on the ‘Request OTP’ button.
4. Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number to receive the Aadhaar Number/Enrolment ID after verification on your registered mobile number/email ID.
Please note that residents who have not registered their mobile number/email ID with their Aadhaar Card must visit the nearest Permanent Enrolment Centre to retrieve their UID/EID.
To effortlessly recover your misplaced or overlooked Aadhaar UID/EID, simply head to the closest Permanent Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Then, furnish your demographic and biometric particulars. Once your details are verified against the UIDAI database, you can retrieve your UID/EID and even obtain a printout of your Aadhaar card by paying a nominal fee of Rs. 30 at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
