Following recent amendments by the Government of India mandating the linkage of PAN with Aadhaar card, many individuals find themselves uncertain about the correct procedure for this connection. Thankfully, UIDAI and the Income Tax Department have established user-friendly provisions to facilitate the seamless linking of these two important identification instruments.

In certain situations, individuals face challenges in linking their PAN (Permanent Account Number) with Aadhaar due to various reasons. The predominant issue in these cases is often the disparity in data between the two documents. It's essential to note that the linkage of PAN with Aadhaar will occur only when all details in both documents align accurately.

Link PAN with Aadhaar online process

Ensure that your PAN and Aadhaar details, including name, address, phone number, etc., match in both cards.
Log in or register on the official website https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
Navigate to “profile setting” and select the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option.
Provide details such as name, date of birth, gender, Aadhaar number, etc., and enter the captcha code.
Verify the information in the form before proceeding.
Click on ‘Link Aadhaar.’
A confirmation message will appear on your screen, indicating the successful linking of Aadhaar to PAN.

PAN Card Procedure

Steps to Correct Aadhaar card Details if the information does not match with PAN

Visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
Complete the Aadhaar Enrolment/Correction Form.
Clearly specify the details to be updated on the form.
Submit the form to the executive at the centre.
The executive will authenticate your identity by capturing your biometrics.
Provide a Proof of Identity (PoI) document for verification.
Pay a fee of ₹30 (₹25 + 18% GST) to the executive.
Upon acceptance, you will receive an acknowledgment slip with the Update Request Number (URN).
Use the URN to track the status of your PAN application.
Once updated, download the e-Aadhaar from the UIDAI’s website.
You can now effortlessly link your PAN with Aadhaar.

Step to Correct/Update Details in PAN

Visit the NSDL website and click on the ‘PAN’ option.
Select the ‘Apply Online’ tab.
In the sub-menu, choose “change/correction in PAN data” and click on ‘Apply.’
Select the application type, fill in the required details, and proceed.
Authenticate your application using Aadhaar eKYC.
Utilize the Aadhaar OTP-based authentication method, which auto-fills all your details.
Make an online payment of ₹110 through debit/credit card or net banking.
Receive an acknowledgement number for tracking the application status.
The updated PAN card will be dispatched to the address mentioned in the Aadhaar card.
Once you receive the updated PAN, easily link it with Aadhaar
